EDITH KAY (nee GILES) October 4, 1924 - April 5, 2017 It is with heartfelt sorrow we announce the passing of Edith Illa Kay. She was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty years Tom Sr. and sisters, Bertha Kaminski and Anne Pearce. Remaining to cherish her memory are daughters, Pat and Anna (Alden), sons Tom (Janice) and Danny, grandchildren, Kristin (Dave) and Stephen (Caroline) as well as her cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom loved getting together with her family. She was a fabulous cook hosting many family meals over the years. A talented piano player she instilled a love for music in her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cribbage and other card games, played Kinsmen bingo and enjoyed the occasional visit to the casino. Mom appreciated a nice glass of wine. She excelled at solving the crossword puzzles and the Jumble. Mom adopted several cats from the humane society over the years and provided a loving home for them. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and we will truly miss her. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the staff at the Golden West PCH for the compassion and tender care of Edith during her stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. In keeping with mother's wishes cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. She will be laid to rest with her husband Tom in Brookside Cemetery. For online condolences, please log onto www.directcarecremation.ca

  • My sincere condolences to all of you on the passing of Edith. I had the opportunity a few years back when attending a conference in Winnipeg to visit her at home. Sitting in a car out front, I called her and said it was Carole Brooks...Arnold and Joyce's daughter. Oh yes, she said, it would be wonderful to see you. She opened the door and we had a big hug. Though I had not seen her in many, many years she said I hadn't changed and I said the same of her, for it was true. We had a very nice visit and I was glad that I had the chance to see he after so many years. My Mom and Dad were very excited when I told them I had visited with her. I spoke to her a couple of times since then but would have loved to have seen her again. She will always hold a special place in my heart. - Posted by: Carole Brooks (Family Friend) on: Apr 24, 2017

  • I began corresponding with Edith after my mother in law passed away. She was from the Giles family of Walkhampton Yelverton Devon UK. I only used to write and send a card at Christmas, but she always told me that she enjoyed my letters. She sounded a lovely warm and caring person. - Posted by: Ray and Hilary Fielding (Far distant relation of Ray. Ray's gran was Bertha Giles from Walkhampton ) on: Apr 09, 2017
