Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL MOROZ Peacefully, Michael passed away on March 28, 2017, at the age of 94. He leaves to forever cherish his memory, his wife, Agnes (nee Niziol); daughters, Joyce Moroz (Douglas Barry), Trisha Joan Moroz-Barstead (Brian Barstead) and Karen McDougall (George McDougall); grandchildren, Warren, Damien (Aerin), Christina (Garry) and Jeffrey (Sophie); great-grandchildren Faevan, Koah, Jett and Estelle. He will be remembered by Agnes' brother and sisters, who were lifelong friends, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John, sisters Ann and Julie (in childhood), and half-sister Adeline. A City of Winnipeg employee for more than 40 years, Michael was a Pump Operator at the McPhillips Pumping Station, then worked in the Planning and Property department as a Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector. Michael was born in Poland on October 11, 1922 to William and Magda (nee Kostiuk) and came to Manitoba 12 years later. At age 19, he enlisted in the Canadian Army (1941 - 1946) and was a Craftsman with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, serving in the UK and Continental Europe. Michael met the lovely Agnes at a wedding in Winnipeg. They married in 1947 and soon started their family. Their life together was to last for 70 years. Big Whiteshell Lake was an important part of family life. Michael especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, blueberry picking and a game of horseshoes. Active to the end, he and Agnes took pleasure in cottage life well into their 80s. Michael ('Mickey') exemplified integrity, quiet capability, a strong work ethic, and a deep love for his family. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held.
