MURIEL ISABEL PADDOCK Peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2017 Muriel Isabel Paddock (nee MacPherson) passed away to be with the Lord. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1993. She is lovingly remembered by her son Ross (Pam); special grandson Eric; daughter Angela (Shawn); grandsons, Brendan and Jared, her many cherished nieces and nephews across Canada, and many treasured neighbors and friends in her community and beyond. Muriel was born in Windsor, NS, in 1921 and graduated as an RN from Wolfville, NS in 1945. In the early 1950s she and a close friend and fellow RN embraced a bit of challenge and adventure by accepting nursing positions in the Manitoba Interlake. It was there she met and married Tom in 1956. Their life included many large extended-family celebrations in their home (Selkirk, Gypsumville). They traveled most summers to visit friends and family throughout Canada and US, often as camping trips to enjoy their shared love of nature and the outdoors. Muriel lived her strong Christian faith every day through the care, compassion and love she extended to everyone she met. She worked professionally as a public health and senior's care nurse with both the Federal and Manitoba governments. She volunteered throughout her life in numerous capacities; as an in-home care giver, at church and community activities, as youth group leader, as a visitor to seniors and shut-ins, and always as a friend to anyone who just wanted to talk over coffee and cookies. Muriel so enjoyed visits from friends and relatives when she was no longer able to go out, and continued to reach out to new acquaintances at Red River Place to lend her hand and heart. Thank you to the staff at Red River Place, your care for her was extraordinary. Special appreciation to Rev. Deborah Vitt and Rev. Anthon Bouw, and to the many friends who shared prayers with her or simply sat and held her hand. A celebration of Muriel's life will take place on June 23, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Selkirk United Church in Selkirk, MB, with Reverend Deborah Vitt officiating. If anyone so desires, you are invited to donate to a charity of your choice, or simply do a kind deed for another.
