Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN CORNFORD Peacefully on April 7, 2017 Helen passed away at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home at the age of 94. Predeceased by her parents; brothers David and Stuart and sister Ursula. She leaves to cherish her memory sons Stuart (Judy) Kidd and Stockney Cornford (Shaun Lang) both in Winnipeg; grandchildren Grant (Lori) Kidd and Sheri (Dan) Kidd Roberts; great-grandchildren Tayler, Jayden and Riley Kidd in Edmonton and Sidney and James Roberts in Winnipeg along with sister-in-law Clara Browning in Winnipeg and three nieces and three nephews. Helen was born in Vancouver, British Columba on February 17, 1923. The fourth child of Raymond and Mary Browning. She married Harold Kidd in 1943 and gave birth to a son Stuart Kidd. When the marriage ended, she worked as an executive secretary for Wright Ropes in Vancouver for many years while raising her son to Grade 12. She married George Cornford on December 16, 1959 and moved to his farm in Gladstone, MB area in 1961. She gave birth to a son, Stockney in 1963 and lived there until 2000 at which time she moved to town and into a nice apartment in the Centennial Apartments. As her health declined she then moved to Winnipeg and enjoyed her last years at Tuxedo Villa. Mother loved sewing, gardening, music and reading biographies. She was a very social person with many friends and opinions. The highlight of her year was her annual trip to Lac Du Bonnet to her son's cabin. Also enjoyed were birthday celebrations for her family members. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Helen's memory to a charity of one's choice. www.voyagefuneralhome.com

So sorry to hear of your mom"s passing, Stockney. She was one special lady! I always admired her for her straight forward replies and opinions! I met your mom when I first moved to Gladstone to teach - I boarded at Lorna Browning's, so met most of the family during that time. They had some great parties at Lorna's in the "good ol" days'! That's where I learned to play cribbage! LOL. ( I never realized that Stuart was her brother tho'.). Thinking of you at this difficult time as we send our deepest condolences to all of the family.
