SHELLEY LYNNE URICK (nee BODNARCHUK) After a courageous fight with cancer, our mother Shelley is finally at peace. Her husband, sons and mother were by her side. Shelley was born in Saskatoon on April 24, 1962 and moved with her parents Joseph and Myrna Bodnarchuk and her older sister Kathy to Charleswood, where she lived her entire life. She attended Chapman, Royal school and St. Mary's Academy. Her pride and joy were her sons Scott and Garett. She also had a new joy in her life with the birth of her grandson, Shae, whom she adored. Shelley kept her family close with Sunday suppers at her dining room table. Her life was always filled with some sport. For herself, curling; or her sons, what ever was in season, mainly hockey. They travelled far and wide with the boys' sports and in the summers, camping in Canada or the USA. One of her favourite spots was Rushing River, ON. She and Randy also had many winter holidays in the sun. Shelley was the heart of her family and she had many friends, be they neighbours or co-workers. She had been a loyal employee of Safeway since the age of 16. She made friends of all ages wherever she went, be it from school, sports, work, or relatives from her own, or Randy's family. She touched many peoples' lives. She was predeceased by her father Joe Bodnarchuk and will be sadly missed by her husband Randy, her sons Scott (Kari and grandson Shae), Garett, her mother Myrna, sister Kathy, niece Gabrielle, nephew Jean-Luc, and her many friends and co-workers. A special thanks to her team of doctors and nurses at CancerCare Health Sciences Centre. A celebration of Shelley's life will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, Winnipeg, with reception to follow. Rest in peace our beautiful mother. We love you.

  • Dear Urick family we are so saddened to hear of Shelleys' passing. Although we both worked at Safeway we never worked together...our "hang out" place were the many hockey arenas when the boys were younger. She was a pleasure to be around, always smiling and I am so happy that I ran into her at Braydons' social. It was so nice to catch up on everything and I am so sorry that we never got together like we were supposed to. On behalf of myself Tom Joseph Louis Sam and Josh Mulvenna we send our condolences to you all, Randy Scott and Garett on the loss of your beautiful wife and mother. Rest easy Shelley - Posted by: wendy and Family (friends ) on: Apr 09, 2017

  • Our deepest heartfelt sympathy to Randy and the family at this sad time. Shelley was always so much fun and always had a smile for everyone. You knew Shelley's love for her family. My last memory was at Siloam Mission working along side her in the kitchen listening to how she was going to cope with letting Garret go off to the Pas for his work. She was so adorable. Her Safeway family will miss her dearly. With our deepest love and sympathy to the family, May you find rest in Gods love and Peace.
