BEATRICE M. COOK (nee SPROULE) September 23, 1925 - April 5, 2017 Passed away peacefully at her retirement home on Wednesday, April 5 at the age of 91. Beatrice is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Jack, her sister Beth and sister-in-law Jean both of Winnipeg, as well as her daughter Colleen (Peter), grandsons Christopher (Lily) and Casey (Katelyn), and great-granddaughter Jacklyn. Auntie Bea will be long remembered and loved by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Maude Sproule, and her brother Charles. Beatrice grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, attending Riverview Primary School, Kelvin High School and the Angus Business School before joining the Bond Investment Department of the Great West Life Assurance Company. In 1968 Bea and her husband moved to Ottawa where Bea continued to employ her love of numbers with a successful career at Revenue Canada Taxation. BB, as she was known to relatives and close friends, was a gracious, kind, loving woman who always treated others with fairness and respect. She was also a fierce competitor, enjoying bridge, curling and synchronized swimming while being an accomplished tennis player. She was a member of both the R.A. and R.C.M.P. curling clubs. Bea loved theatre, music, travel and listening to CBC radio! She and husband Jack trailered to all provinces in Canada and all states in United States except Hawaii. Bea also enjoyed many summers and winter weekends at their cottage on Upper Rideau Lake where she volunteered for many years on the lake association. In her later years, Bea struggled with Alzheimer's. The family would like to thank the staff of Embassy West Senior Living for their compassionate care and support. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 11 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Alzheimer Society of Canada - designated for research, would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.colefuneralservices.com
