ANNE SKIBINSKI (nee WALLACH) August 4, 1933 April 2, 2017 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and baba at the Selkirk General Hospital, at the age of 83. Forever cherishing her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Frank; her daughter Phyllis (Gerry) Bouchard and son Wayne; grandchildren, Kristen (Kevin) and Keri; and precious great-granddaughters, Gabrielle and Emma. Anne will also be sadly missed by her brother-in-law Joe (Joyce) Skibinsky; sisters-in-law, Helen, Beatrice and Evelyn Wallach, Lillian and Ruth Skibinski; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Victor and Titania Wallach; brothers, Mike (Rose) Troschuk, Joe (Myrtle) Wallack, John, Charlie and Frank Wallach; two siblings in childhood; and brothers-in-law, Walter and Edward Skibinski. Anne was born on August 4, 1933 in Poplarfield, MB and raised together with her brothers (whom she loved dearly) on the family's farm. In her late teens, Anne left home to attend the Manitoba Normal School in Teulon, MB and graduated with a Teacher's Certificate in 1953. After a brief stint as a teacher, Anne was swept off her feet and married her true love, Frank, on October 25, 1958. Immediately, Anne and Frank settled in Hodgson, MB to raise a family and run a family-owned grocery business. Anne retired from the store in 2004 and focused her energy on being a full-time mom, grandma and eventually baba. Although Anne enjoyed her work in the store, her true passion was teaching. This was reflected in the joy that spread across her face each time she reunited with an old student or Normal School classmate. Mom strongly emphasized the value of education and looked forward to her time spent on the Manitoba Normal School Reunion Committee. Anne's greatest love however, was her family and friends. Mom was the heart of every gathering; ensuring that everyone was well-fed and enjoying themselves. Special thanks to Dr. Goldenberg and staff at CancerCare Manitoba; Dr. Bruin, Marie Roddy (NP) and staff at Percy E. Moore Hospital; and Dr. Patel and staff at Gimili General Hospital for their support and care during the treatment and care phases of Mom's illness with breast and later bone cancer. The family would also like to thank the IERHA; and Dr. Lindenschmidt and the nursing staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for their incredible care and compassion during Mom's final weeks. Heartfelt appreciation and love is extended to all family members and friends for their kindness and support. Finally, an extra special thank you and love to Gail Nahuliak (Aunty Gail) for her unwavering support of mom and our family. We are eternally grateful for all that you have done for us. As per Anne's wish, the family will host a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Poplarfield Community Hall in Poplarfield, MB starting at 11:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, honor Anne by gifting yourself with some invaluable time spent with loved ones. Additionally, donations may be made in Anne's memory to CancerCare Manitoba.
