MARGARET FLORENCE JOHNSON (nee MORTHAM) On April 9, 2017, with family at her side, Margaret passed peacefully at the age of 96 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Jack (Elsie) Mortham, daughters Rosalynn (George) Leighton, Lori Grapentine, son Andy (Kim) Johnson, son-in-law Tim (Renee) Martin, grandchildren Shane (Kim), Craig (Samantha), Brent (Abby), Eric (Kylee), Leanne (Andrew), Kathryn (Tyler), Nicole, Amanda and Matthew, great-grandchildren Tyler, Jessica and Logan as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Margaret was predeceased by her husband William (Bill), son Terry, daughters Maureen and Susan and her sister Helen Purkis. Margaret was born at home on Toronto Street, September 24, 1920 and lived most of her life in St. Vital. She attended Glenwood and Norberry Schools. She was also known as Marg, Maggie and Auntie Peggy. Margaret married Bill in 1941 and they had 65 wonderful years together. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed traveling with Bill, especially to California to visit her father and sister's family. She spent many happy childhood years at Canyon Lake at MacIntosh. Some of her greatest joys were time spent with her family, flower gardening, her many pet dogs, knitting, oil painting, long walks with Bill, swimming and hot coffee. Heartfelt appreciation is extended to staff at The Rosewood, Beacon Hill and Park Manor P.C.H. for their compassion and tender care of Margaret during her stay this past year. Cremation has occurred and in keeping with her wishes there will be no service. A private family gathering has taken place to honour and celebrate her life. Mom has been laid to rest with Dad in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the charity of your choice.
