Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALLY YALLITS Wally Yallits, beloved mother of Karla and Keith, died peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2017, with her daughter and son at her side. She was predeceased by her son Glenn (2007), husband Vic (2008) and granddaughter Meghan (2010). She is survived by her baby brother Herb (Olga); daughter Karla; son Keith (Sheri); granddaughters, Trisha (Kevin) and Jessica (Corey); and three great-grandchildren, Tyler, Christopher and Mya. Wally was born on a farm in Saskatchewan on February 18, 1921 to Emma and Otto Jentzsch. Her siblings, now deceased, were Karl, Wanda and Irene. Farm life during the Depression helped foster her skills of self-reliance. Wally married Victor Yallits in 1945 wearing a stylish outfit she'd made herself. Mom was a woman of many talents and abilities. We know that whatever she set out to do, she would not only accomplish, she would nail it. She chose to be Vic's wife and our mother. She did it all wife, mother, seamstress, cook, builder, fixer, painter, gardener, snow-shoveller, etc. Our house was always full of good food, music, made by Mom on the piano and Dad on accordion, warm clothes, sewed and mended by her, and a general sense of safety and order. She gave us a sense of being loved and cared for. Heaven help those who criticized us kids, especially if they got it wrong. She always asked for our version and if we were at fault we were in big trouble, but if we weren't, she was our fearless defender both in the neighbourhood and at school. Being a doer, the ravages of arthritis made her final years a great challenge for her. The gradual loss of her physical abilities necessitated her dependence on others and brought out a surprising acceptance and gentleness. She bore her six years in a wheelchair, first at Parkview Place and then at River East Personal Care Home, with grace and dignity. Her blue eyes sparkled right until the end. The family would like to thank all the wonderful people that took care of Mom at both care homes, but more specifically River East. You know who you are, much love. Cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and close friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to any Animal Rescue of your choice.
