L'HONORABLE ARMAND DUREAULT BA, LLB, CR Paisiblement à sa demeure, Armand nous a quittés le dimanche de Pâques 16 avril 2017. On se souviendra de lui comme un 'grand' homme chaleureux et généreux, avec un sens de l'humour aigu. Sa longue carrière en droit connaît ses débuts en tant que stagiaire associé à l'Honorable Alfred Monnin, pour enfin être admis au barreau du Manitoba en 1953. Il s'associe ensuite avec Laurent Marcoux pour fonder l'étude Marcoux, Dureault et Associés. En 1964 il est nommé Conseiller de la Reine et en 1974 on le nomme Juge de la Cour de Comté de St-Boniface. C'est au court de cet exercice qu'il rendu son célèbre jugement dans l'Affaire Forest. Il est nommé Juge à la Cour du banc de la Reine en 1984 et en 1988 il devient Commissaire à la Commission d'appel du régime des pensions du Canada ou il siège comme Président en 1993 jusqu'à sa retraite en 1998. Armand participait au sein de nombreux organismes communautaires, en particulier la Société d'aide aux enfants du Manitoba et le Cercle Molière. Il était un des fondateurs du restaurant La Vieille Gare et membre de longue date du Club de golf de St-Boniface. Il a passé de nombreux étés au chalet familial à la Plage Albert à célébrer entre amis et famille. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Simone (née Gagné), son fils Marc (Shellomey Barnaby), sa fille Louise (Paul Styan), ses soeurs Ida (Leonard Sulkers), Dolorès (Emile Dupas), son frère Gérald (Barb) et de nombreux nièces, neveux et amis. La messe des funérailles aura lieu à 11h le samedi 22 avril en l'Eglise du Précieux-Sang, 200 rue Kenny. L'éloge commencera à 10h45. HONOURABLE ARMAND DUREAULT BA, LLB, QC Peacefully in his home, Armand passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017. He will be fondly remembered as a warm and generous man, with a wonderful sense of humour. During his lengthy legal career, he began by articling with former Chief Justice Alfred Monnin, and was admitted to the Manitoba Bar in 1953. He partnered with colleagues to form the Law Office of Marcoux, Dureault and Associates. He became Q.C. in 1964 and in 1974 he was appointed to the Bench of the County Court of St. Boniface, during which time he wrote the decision in the "Affaire Forest". In 1984 he was appointed to the Court of Queen's Bench where he sat until 1998. In 1988 he was appointed to the Canada Pension Appeal Board, and served as President from 1993 until his retirement in 1998. Armand was very active in several community agencies, in particular Children's Aid Society of Manitoba and Le Cercle Molière. He was one of the founders of the La Vieille Gare restaurant and a long-time member of St. Boniface Golf Club. He enjoyed many summers at the family cottage at Albert Beach hosting several gatherings of friends and family. He leaves to mourn his spouse Simone (née Gagné), son Marc (Shellomey Barnaby), daughter Louise (Paul Styan), sisters Ida (Leonard Sulkers), and Dolorès (Emile Dupas), brother Gérald Dureault (Barb), and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
