ROGER TOMIO NISHI It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to Roger Nishi who passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2017, surrounded by family. Roger was born on March 3, 1963. He lived at Manitoba Developmental Centre (MDC) for 44 years. Roger was predeceased by his parents Elsie and Mas. He will be lovingly missed by his siblings Cheryl Collins, Les Nishi, Vic (Myra) Nishi, Roberta Palmer and Teresa (Louis) St. Amant, nieces, nephews and friends. Roger was happy and was loved by his family and MDC staff. His strong spirit helped him face many of his illnesses, living well beyond his years. Coming home to Winnipeg was his great love. He also loved his records and listening to music. Roger was especially close to his sister Teresa who, with her husband Louis, loved to spoil him. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the MDC in Portage la Prairie, we appreciate their care and compassion. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at MDC -Aspen Centre in Portage la Prairie, MB, led by Rev. Beth Kerr. A private family interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Roger's memory to the Lake Manitoba Camp Legacy Fund Inc., Box 1532, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3P5.
