Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MILDRED IRELAND August 19, 1933 - April 13, 2017 Mary Ireland passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the age of 83. Mary is survived by her children, Harold (Linda), David (Kelly), John (Lisa) and Michael (Bonnie); 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold; parents Adam and Frances Kanusek; a brother John, and a daughter Cynthia. Mary was born in the small coal mining town of Dinant, AB and moved to Winnipeg with her mother and brother in her early teens. It was in Winnipeg where Mary met Harold, the love of her life. The two married on June 7, 1952. Mary and Harold went on to raise five children in their Brooklands home. On many occasions, Mary and Harold would open their hearts and home to friends and family in need. Mary enjoyed reminiscing about the days of her youth growing up in the mountains at the boom of the Alberta coal mining industry. Her pastimes included gardening, sewing and spending time at the cottage with her husband. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family. Mary was well known for her delicious perogies, holopchi and pyrizhky and such dishes were the highlight of many family gatherings. Cremation has taken place and Mary will be laid to rest alongside her husband at a private family service. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to an organization of your choice. Thank you to the staff at the Deer Lodge Centre for the care and compassion you gave our mother during her time there.

I wish to offer my sincere condolences at the loss of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mary. I remember how much she delighted in her grandchildren and enjoyed having everyone out at the lake. She will be overjoyed at meeting up again with her loved ones, Harold and Cindy.
