JAMES (JIM) BARCLAY STEWART May 7, 1935 - April 17, 2017 Jim was born in Fitzroy Township, Carleton County in the Ottawa Valley in 1935. He spent his childhood on the farm with his parents, Andrew Barclay and Maudie, and siblings Don, Betty, John, Nancy, and Glenn. At the age of 18, he ventured west to train at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Depot in Regina, Saskatchewan, then served 20 years with the force throughout Manitoba. On retiring from the RCMP, he set up his home and family in Sprague, Manitoba, which he had come to know from heading the RCMP detachment there. He chose Sprague because he loved the outdoors, and was never far from the bush or a lake there. He resided in the Sprague area until recently. Jim passed away at the Vita Personal Care Home on Easter Monday. He leaves Mary, his wife of 58 years; his children Neil (Gale), Sharon (Ron), Lori (Shawna), and Greg (Lisa); grandchildren Crystal, Jared, Paige, Morgan, Schae, Damon, Ky, and Matheson; and great-grandchildren Alexandra and Barrett. His legacy is having passed along his love of the outdoors - fishing, camping, golfing, cutting wood, gardening - to his kids and grandkids. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Seniors Club in Sprague. Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, or a charity of your choice.

Lori, sincere condolences on the passing of your Dad. Though I knew him only through stories and legends, I know he was your Dad, Nancy's brother and Mary's long-standing husband. May he slip into the world of dreams and memories with ease. With love and hugs, Debbie and Herb - Posted by: Debbie Katz (Step-neice) on: Apr 22, 2017
