TED (THEODORUS) VAN DE GIESSEN March 15, 1945 - April 18, 2017 Beloved Husband, Dad and Opa, Ted van de Giessen, passed away April 18 after a brief battle with cancer. Survived by his loving wife Alison, his daughter Alida (Joe), grandchildren Elizabeth and Thomas; and son Stuart (Teisha), granddaughters Eadie and Tilly, as well as nine brothers and two sisters in Holland. Born in Delft, Holland, as one of 12 children, Ted immigrated to Toronto in the late 1960s, where he met the love of his life, Alison, before moving to Alberta, Manitoba, and recently to British Columbia. Ted was a kind, gentle man who was known for his sharp mind, wit, and knowledge of current events. He was able to offer valuable insights on many subjects. He found great pleasure in helping others and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him, and deeply missed and loved by his family. Always in our thoughts, Forever in our hearts.

  • I have so many happy fun memories of Ted and Alison. I was around for their full bloom romance. Ted loved Alison like crazy. I was honoured to be their bridesmaid way back when. Alison, Alissa, Stuart and the grandkids, I am so sorry for your loss. Ted was one of the good guys and he will be missed. Alison, I have lost your Langley address and phone number. I tried calling you at your New Westminster number. Please send me your new address and phone number. My prayers are with you and yours. Love, Trish - Posted by: Trish Pritchard (Friend) on: May 29, 2017

  • I met Ted almost 20 years ago through work at MHA. He was a man of conviction and principle. I soon learned to respect his drive and conviction. He became a cherished friend and work compatriot. His laugh and smile often lightened up a tense situation. That and our lunch times will always be a memory for me. Alison and family. I pray for Gods comfort for you in your time of loss. - Posted by: Gerry Giesbrecht (Co-worker, friend) on: May 02, 2017

  • My Heart goes out to your Family. Everytime Ted visited me at my office, he always had that winning smile that brightened my Day! He was a True Gentleman, providing me with confidence and gentle guidance. You mark your Life with chance, or not-so chance relationships that ear mark your time on Earth.
