PETER BATIUK On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, peacefully at the Seven Oaks General Hospital, Peter Batiuk of Old Kildonan passed away. Peter is survived by his brother Mike. Peter was predeceased by his wife Martha and brother Walter. Throughout his life Peter held many jobs which included driving a cab, warehouse labour at Crescent Fruit and mechanic's aide at Versatile Manufacturing, but his greatest love was farming. Beginning as a child working along with his father, Peter loved to work the land and, into his adulthood, he continued to farm with his younger brother Mike, retiring only a few short years ago. Peter loved to collect antiques and toy models of various pieces of farm and construction equipment he worked with throughout his long life. During the off season Peter enjoyed going to the various farm trade shows and two of his favourites were Ag Days in Brandon and Big Iron in Fargo. Another one of Peter's favourite pastime activities was being part of the "Breakfast Club", which included a group of fellow farmers. Administrators for his estate would like to thank the staff at Parkview, Maples Nursing Home as well as the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital for the quality of care provided to Peter. Pursuant to Peter's wishes, no funeral service will be held. If friends and neighbours so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the "South Interlake Rockwood Agricultural Society" or to a charity of their choice. God looked down on the earth He created and said "I need a caretaker for this world I have made". And so God made a Farmer. Paul Harvey.
