WILLIAM HAMM William (Bill) Jared Hunter Hamm passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Friday, April 28, 2017 in Winnipeg. William is lovingly remembered by his wife Aileen, their three children, Linda (Rod), Larry, and Rod (Susan), and two grandsons, Mitchell and Braeden. He is also survived by three siblings, Katherine, Erna and John (Leah), sister-in-law Betty, and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Margaret, brother Peter, and sisters Margaret and Nettie. William was born in Friedensruh, Manitoba on March 15, 1929. He grew up with six brothers and sisters, living in various small towns in Manitoba. In his 20s, after coming to Winnipeg, his sister introduced him to a co-worker, Aileen, whom he married in 1957. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 20 of this year. Early on, he worked in different places such as Churchill and Vancouver but returned to Winnipeg to raise his family with Aileen. Having a family, William said, was the best thing that ever happened to him. He also loved his fellow man and donated to charity, gave to the church, and helped the poor individually whenever possible. He was a very generous man with a gentle and compassionate soul. William was a deeply spiritual man and belonged to the United Church of God. He was dedicated to his faith and often researched and wrote about the Bible. William also had a great passion for writing books, poems, music and crossword puzzles. He will be sadly missed. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Tuxedo Villa for the care and continued kindness extended to Bill during his residence there. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of William's favourite charities, Siloam Mission; Mennonite Central Committee, or a charity of your choice.
