CAROL FRANCES MARTIN (nee PAYE) 1944 - 2017 Peacefully, on April 30, 2017 at Morris General Hospital, Carol Martin, aged 72 years, passed on to be with her Lord and Saviour. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her husband Jim; sons Kyle, Scott and Jordan; sister Barbara and her extended family. She will also be remembered and missed by her many friends and neighbours, and by her friends at the St. Adolphe Bible Fellowship Church and the Family Life Church in Winnipeg. Carol was born in Ottawa in 1944, the second daughter of Cyril and Doris Paye. She moved to Winnipeg when she was very young, and grew up in the St. James area. After high school, she attended the University of Winnipeg and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In 1969, she met Jim, and they married, May 8, 1971. They moved to St. Adolphe in 1972, where she had her three sons. The rest of her adult life was spent there. Carol was the ultimate homemaker, raising her three sons and running her household with Jim. Although previously a city girl, Carol took to small town life immediately. She was involved in many volunteer activities, and later on, she was very active in her church. She participated in the Ladies Slowpitch League for several years. She also curled with the Rockettes and then the Wednesday Ladies League. Carol and Jim started the annual Canadian Cancer Campaign in St. Adolphe. She also sold daffodils as a Cancer fundraiser, and to this day is known by many in St. Adolphe as the "Daffodil Lady". Carol loved nature and the outdoors, and all of God's creatures. She liked playing cards and Rummoli with her family, and was passionate about gardening and Scrabble. Carol was calm and quiet, a real lady, with an open and friendly personality. She always had a kind word for everyone, supported many charities and was always willing to pitch in and help. Truly a kind, happy, generous and gentle soul. To know Carol was to love her. She made friends easily, and her friendships lasted all her lifetime. A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Avenue at Henderson Highway. Interment will be in Lac du Bonnet Cemetery at a later date. www.voyagefuneralhome.com

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Dear Jim, sending our heartfelt sympathy on Carol's passing. Reading through this beautiful tribute I'm so sorry to have missed the memorial service. Carol began volunteering at the Canadian Cancer Society in 1980's. I had the pleasure of meeting the two of you during the annual April door to door campaign in the early 2000's! A true champion in the fight against cancer and an inspiring legacy of volunteer service! Our thoughts are with you at this sad and difficult time. • My condolences to Jim and his sons and all the Family relatives. I always remember Carol as that cheerful voice on the other end of the phone, whenever I called the family's home. I am reminded of her pleasant comments and personal attention; her ability to share a joke and laugh at my own funny comments. Rest in Peace - Posted by: Faizul Rahim (Friend) on: May 04, 2017
