Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRIS TOMES (nee GRAHAM) April 10, 1913 - March 4, 2017 Our incredible Mum, Christina Victoria Tomes passed away peacefully on March 4, 2017 at the Charleswood Care Centre in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1981; siblings, Jack, Joe, Ernie, Margaret, Ivy and granddaughter Kyla. She leaves behind son Jim (Carol); son Bob (Jane); grandchildren, Tiffany, Mark, Jennifer, Nicole, Heidi, Robyn, Paul, Alexander and nine great-grandchildren. Mum grew up on the farm near Starbuck, Manitoba. In 1953, Joe and Chris moved into their house on Collegiate St. where She lived for 58 years before moving into Charleswood Care Centre. She worked at Whittier Park, Polo Park and Assiniboia Downs Racetracks where she managed food services. She was Bourkvale Community Club Ladies Auxillary treasurer for over 25 years and helped with square dancing, bingo, canteen, carnival and hockey. The community club was an extension of her family. In her senior years she enjoyed the Prime program at Deer Lodge Hospital, then moved to be part of the family at Charleswood Care Centre. Thank you to everyone who helped care for our Mum. You extended the quality of her life. A private family funeral and gathering will be held May 13, 2017.

Although we did not know Chris personally, we have heard of her full life and her dedication to family and the community. Her life gives new meaning to the saying, " a life well lived!" May the family find comfort knowing that Chris's legacy of love lives on in them and in future generations.
