DAVID (DAVE) FABBRI Peacefully, while recovering from a stroke at St. Boniface Hospital, with his family by his side, David left this world and stepped into eternity on April 29, 2017. David leaves behind his love of nearly 20 years, Bonnie, and his son Matthew, daughter-in-law Christy, and their children Kate, Grace, and Jack; his sister Barb (Donald), brother Ernest, stepmother Dorothy, aunt Blanche Zastre; nephews, Bradley, Michael, niece Kim; dear cousins Don, Johnny, Evelyn, Maria, Paul, Marlene, Robert, and Gayle; and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his father Augustino and mother Lucy, and his dear Auntie Jean and Uncle Don. Though David lived a quiet life, the story of his birth belongs in a Hollywood blockbuster: Nazis, the London Blitz, and a narrow escape. So narrow, in fact, that as legend states, there was no time, following his birth, for his parents to bestow a middle name upon him before all were rushed to safety as Nazis devastated London in late 1940. As a teenager in Winnipeg, David was blessed with the gift of music and played his accordion often with his second family: his cousins. David retired from his work as a transmission mechanic at Midwest Detroit Diesel in 2003, but kept active with his family, friends, and his daily walks around Old St. Vital and along the Niakwa Trail. The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Coates, and nurses Kevin, Jonathan, Shirley, Sam, and Andrea for their quality care, and Pastor Jeff and the pastoral team at Springs Church for their care and counsel. David's remains will be scattered by his family in places that held great meaning to him, and, as was his request, no funeral service will be held, but his large family will celebrate his life privately just the way he wanted. Really sorry to see his passing ............ David and I grew up in E.K. never went to school together but always had time for each other after school, from baseball to delivering newspapers.................David visited in Brandon numerous times also attending my wedding, sort of lost touch as I moved numerous times, I recall the last time I spoke with him in the early 80's, but we never managed to hook up as I was working long hours and only had a few days in the Winnipeg area. One of the things you promise yourself but never get too............... God Bless - Posted by: Bob King (A fried from yester-years) on: Jun 17, 2018

A quiet, gentle, kind person left this earth. He was so proud of our son Matthew, and our wonderful daughter-in-law Christy. They were there with him daily through it all. The thoughtfulness & kindness they showered on him, speaks of the legacy David leaves behind. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him throughout his life. - Posted by: Marnie (Ex wife) on: May 06, 2017

I, as well as many others will miss your quiet unassuming presence, dry wit, and your cheeky smirk. Rest well my friend. - Posted by: Myrna (Friend) on: May 06, 2017
