Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURI KALERVO SAVILAAKSO Lauri Savilaakso, 88, of Summerland, BC, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Summerland Seniors Village. Lauri was born January 9, 1929 in Oulu, Finland. Lauri moved to Winnipeg in 1950 and was a painter/decorator by trade. After retirement Lauri enjoyed travelling to tropical locations with Joyce and spending his summers at his cottage on the lake in Ontario and winters in Texas where he fished, golfed, and took up woodworking. Later in retirement, they moved to the beautiful Okanagan where he and his wife enjoyed going for long walks and tending their yard. Lauri is remembered and sadly missed by his wife Joyce, his four children: daughters Linda, Karen, Brenda and son Brian; his four grandchildren: Justin, Jason, Dylan, and Naomi; his great-granddaughter Melanie; and nieces Anneli and Christine. He was sadly predeceased by his brother Einer and sister-in-law Helvi, and sister Anja and brother-in-law Henry. As per Lauri's wishes, a cremation has taken place and the family will have a private gathering at a later date.
