DONALD HENRY PURPUR
Born: Jun 06, 1933
Date of Passing: May 01, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD HENRY PURPUR Donald Henry Purpur was born on June 6, 1933 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He passed away peacefully on May 1, 2017, at Victoria Hospital, with his family by his side. Don leaves behind his three sons, Glenn (Laurie), Brad and Dave (Denise) and four grandchildren, Ryan, Danny, Darren and Rachel and dog Eddie. On October 15, 2012 he was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Francis, whom he missed dearly. Don was a member of the Canadian Air Force and worked for the Winnipeg Hydro as an electrician for over 30 years, retiring when he was 52 years old. He was also an accomplished competitive swimmer and did work at the 1967 Pan Am Games. Don loved camping with the family at Detroit lakes every year when the kids were younger, they passed through every KOA campground from Winnipeg to Denver doing so. He loved to work on his manicured lawn each summer and took pride in his yard. Don was always helping out his friends and family by doing electrical work; either wiring a house, trailer, car or stereo. He loved watching his sons play hockey and never missed a game...you can still hear the echoes of him yelling MOOOVE at the rinks today! What Don liked doing the most was being with his friends and family; be it at Links Cabin every year with the gang or having people over for drinks to watch the hockey game on TV. He never missed hockey night in Canada. He moved into Sterling House assisted living shortly after his wife passed away and he met many friends there and could always be seen doing crossword puzzles on the 4th floor. Thanks to all the staff and residents at Sterling House for being so nice to him. He spoke highly of you all! In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Knowles Treatment Centre (for youth) 2065 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, MB, R2G 1P7, 204-339-1951. At Don's request, a private family gathering will take place. 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
