GEORGINA HELEN KRUPA February 21, 1917 - May 6, 2017 Peacefully, with her daughters at her side, Georgina passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane. Georgina was born in Winnipeg, MB and lived on a farm in Gunton, MB. In May 1943, Georgina married Philip Krupa and they started to work in Barrows, MB as store owners and post masters. They then moved to Matlock, MB, where they owned and operated the Matlock General Store and Post Office. Georgina worked as the skilled butcher until the store sold in 1976, and the post master until 1982. Every aspect of Georgina's personal accomplishments can be attributed to her consistent hard work, strength, dedication, and compassion. As an Eastern Star member, Georgina became the Worthy Matron. Georgina was an active member and took pride in volunteering with the Churches of which she was a member throughout her life. Georgina was well known for her personality, friendship to all, and for those great pies she made. Georgina loved to travel, read, look after her garden, and spend time with her family. It is difficult to condense 100 years of life into such few words. Georgina will always be remembered as an honest, hardworking, and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Georgina will be sadly missed by her daughters, Myrna Malanik (Allan), and Karen Manning (Stan) of Calgary; and by her nephew David Krupa (Phyllis) of Manitoba, (whom she raised); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Georgina was predeceased by her husband Philip (1997), an infant daughter, Helen (1947), and an infant grandson, Scott (1977). A service of remembrance and celebration of Georgina's life will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas United Church, 100 Hawkwood Blvd N.W. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to St. Thomas United Church, 100 Hawkwood Blvd N.W., Calgary, AB, T3G 2S9, telephone (403) 241-0366, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2N 1Z6, (403)264-5549, www.heartandstroke.ca Please forward condolences through: www.calgarycrematorium.com Calgary Crematorium Chapel 403-299-0111

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I remember shopping at the Matlock General Store as a child in the 1970s. They had a great selection of penny candy and Georgina and Philip were always so kind to me. I'd select my 10 cents worth of candy and they'd throw in an extra piece of candy and smile. It's a cherished childhood memory. May Georgina rest in peace. - Posted by: Joel Shapiro (Customer) on: Aug 16, 2020

  • Myrna, Karen & Families So sorry to hear for the loss of your Mother. She was a great woman and my very first employer and I learned many things from your Dad and Mom. Them along with my parents gave me very good work ethics for which I am very thankful. Take care and remember Memories never fade.
