DOROTHY SANDERS Dorothy "Dode" Florence Grace Sanders (nee Cole), aged 92, passed peacefully on May 12, 2017 at Oakview Place Extendicare. Dorothy was born May 26, 1924 in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Harvey and Levina Cole. Mom attended Weyburn School of Commerce and upon graduation in 1943, moved to Winnipeg where she pursued a career with the Bank of Commerce. She was united in marriage to Keith Glen Sanders on October 9, 1954. Several years later she gave up her career to be a devoted wife and full-time Mom. Mom was an active volunteer at both Clifton School, Clifton Community Club, and the Women's Auxiliary at Grace General Hospital. In later years, she was a dedicated volunteer for Child Find Manitoba. Dad preceded her death March 21, 1989, and she was predeceased by her sister Irene Ritter of Vancouver, BC, April 4, 2015. Mom will be remembered with much love and affection by her son Don of Saskatoon, SK, daughter Wendy, and her precious grandchildren - Brenden and Krysten. Mom was a very loving person who could always see the good in a difficult situation and in everyone she met. She continued to put others needs before her own right up to her passing. Family and friends meant everything to her. There will be a private service for immediate family members at Chapel Lawn at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to: Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, CancerCare Manitoba, or the charity of your choice. Our sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of the staff on the 3rd floor (Eagle Way) of Oakview Place Extendicare. We think of you all as Mom did, "family". Your friendship and support, not only to Mom but to our family, means more than words can merely express. For this we will be eternally grateful. Treasured with love sincere, Memories of her, we love so dear. Always so loving, unselfish and kind, few on this earth equal we'll find. What we would give to hold your hand, your happy face to see. To hear your voice and see your smile that meant so much to us all. Always remembered and sadly missed by Don, Wendy, Brenden and Krysten. Neil Bardal Inc. - 204-949-2200

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dear Wendy and Don and family - please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother. She was very good friends with my mother, Anna, who also lived on Valour Road but just north of Sargent Ave. Mom and Dorthy were often together - shopping, going to garage sales or just having coffee. Your mother gave my mother a lot of joy in her later years. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Richard Iwuc (Former Neighbour) on: May 18, 2017
