Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I was saddened to hear my grade 1 teacher had passed. She had a huge impact in my life. I will always carry the wisdom, sternness and truthfulness she taught me. Rest In Peace Ms. Perlmutter, you may be gone but not forgotten! Grade 1 Student - Anthony McIvor - Posted by: Anthony McIvor (Student ) on: Jun 02, 2021

  • Dear Arie, My condolences. I have faint memories of meeting Sheila on Inkster at your family home. I have actually been looking for you for the past decade or so. I mean, for an indication that you are still alive! There are no Perlmutters on Inkster, the employees at North End Sals have not heard of you (!). I left a message with Boris but no return call. I even tried to contact Burton Cummings. I hope you read three-year-late condolences and email me. I am writing a "Me and Winnipeg" memoir. - Posted by: Peter Leney (Friend) on: Jun 24, 2020

  • Sheila and I worked together at Carpathia School. She was a consummate Grade 1 teacher - adored because she was in touch, she was low-key, she was an active listener, she cared and she was intelligent but knew how to keep it kid-friendly. She was a cooperative/collaborative colleague. Sheila and I were in book club together. I appreciated her intellect, her modesty, her sweetness and her kind demeanour. We will miss Sheila. In sadness but in celebration of one of the most human beings I've had the privilege of knowing. Shirley Hampton - Posted by: Shirley Hampton (Friend) on: May 24, 2017

  • I met Sheila and her family when my sister and I moved onto Inkster Blvd. when we were 6 years old. We lived at 300 Inkster Blvd. Sheila lived at 304 Inkster Blvd. Over the years our friendship grew and we saw each other often especially when my sister came to Winnipeg to visit. She was a compassionate, warm and giving person. I will miss her very much. - Posted by: Penny Rossman (Friend) on: May 24, 2017
