MONICA ALLISON (née DROUIN) Monica Allison died peacefully on February 13, 2017, 99 years old. She was conceived in England, and born in Ottawa, ON in December, 1917. Her parents met during wartime overseas and they had five more children in Ottawa. Monica met her husband Clarence (Al) Allison in Ottawa, and they married in 1941 in Barry, ON, where her first son Bob was born. They moved to Brandon, MB before moving to Winnipeg in 1946, where her second son Gordon was born. With her husband Al, Monica ran two restaurants in Winnipeg. She then went on to work for 26 years at the Winnipeg Public Library, eventually retiring as an Executive Assistant to the Chief Librarian at the main branch. Monica lived her final years at Lions Manor in Winnipeg, where she made friends with many of the staff. Monica was predeceased by her husband Al, and son Gordie, sister Norah, and brothers Bob and Roy. She leaves her son Bob, sister Betty, brother Ron, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their extended families. She lived a life and then some. She had a wildly curious mind, a sharp wit, and a love of words and knowledge in all its forms. For those reasons, and many more, she is sorely missed by all those who were touched by her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Best Western, 330 York Ave., Winnipeg at 1:00 p.m.
