Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) BURGER On May 22, 2017, Elizabeth "Betty" Burger, of Mayerthorpe, AB, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years. Betty is now free to join her soul mate of 57 years, George; where they can dance forever. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael (Karen), Joan (Alan) Hanson and Laura Burger (Tom Stevenson); grandchildren, Jesse (Erin), Alisa (Tom), Jackie (Cory), Cynthia (Derrick), Christine (Richard), Bradley (Heather), Ryan, Jodie, Ricki, Turner and families; brother-in-law, Ken Peters; sister-in-law, Barb Alexander; as well as many dear nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by her husband, George (2011); brother, Jim; and sisters, Margaret (John), Jean and Elsie. Betty was born and raised in Winnipeg, then in 1954 she married George. In 1972 they moved to Mayerthorpe to pursue George's dream of farming. Betty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, baking and sewing, and took great pride in her home. She was an active volunteer for more than 30 years with the Royal Canadian Legion Women's Auxiliary in Mayerthorpe. The family wishes to thank all those who loved and cared for Betty during her stay at the Mayerthorpe Auxiliary Hospital. Your compassionate care for Betty and the family is appreciated. A private Celebration of Life was held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Mayerthorpe, with Reverend Ruth Lotholz officiating.
