Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN WOO Doreen Woo, 83, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017, at her home in Winnipeg, MB. She was born Doreen Wong on October 16, 1933 in Manitoba to her parents Yue Lun and Hope Lin Wong. She was the second youngest of seven siblings and 11 half siblings. She married Frank Woo in 1959. Doreen is survived by her sons Vincent (Alison), grandchildren Meaghan, Evan and Graham, Glenn (Paula Thirnbeck), grandchildren Lindsay, Brendan and Rachel and Mitchell (Julie), grandchildren Kellen and Aaron, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Doreen was preceded by her husband Frank, as well as 16 of her siblings. Doreen was a loving, strong and independent woman. She grew up in Winnipeg and then moved to Toronto at 18 years old. She found her way back to Winnipeg and married Frank. Doreen worked as a legal secretary for many years, as well as being an integral part of Ebby Automatic Transmission Ltd. where she worked alongside of her husband. Doreen enjoyed raising her three very active boys. Her other interests include travelling, (especially cruises), horse racing (where she and Frank were part owners in race horses), playing poker (where she was a very sharp and cunning player), as well as bridge (in which she took great pride). She was also a big fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the Toronto Blue Jays and curling. Her later years were spent at The Wellington, where she thoroughly enjoyed her new friends and activities there. Her glowing personality made her very popular and a joy to be around. At the request of Doreen, the family will be holding a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
