SHIRLEY ANNE BOBBIE July 21, 1948 - May 1, 2017 It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Shirley Bobbie at the age of 68 years. Shirley was predeceased by her father John Bobbie, and brother Ronald, and is survived by her son Kris (Heather); daughters Cali, Emmy and Elli, and daughter Kerry. She is also survived by her mother Pauline; brothers William, Raymond (Jane) children Kirt and Ryanne, Kevin (Cheryl) children Brendan and Aaron, and her partner for the last 35 years, Monny. Shirley was born in Winnipeg and grew up in East Kildonan. She graduated from Miles MacDonnell Collegiate in 1967. She started working for Great West Life after graduation, but eventually moved out to Vancouver, BC in the early 1970s following her brother Bill. She then met Hughes Ferland and soon after they purchased a home in the Green Tree Village in Burnaby, and by 1975 she gave birth to her son Kris, and soon after followed daughter Kerry. Shirley had always made sure to make it back to Winnipeg every single year to visit with her mother in September, on her birthday, and to see family and friends. She also had the good fortune of being able to travel many parts of the world with her partner Monny. She had been to Israel several times, Spain and New York City to name a few, but she especially loved being back home in Winnipeg visiting her girlfriends the most, never forgetting to spend quality time with each of them, whether it was individually or as a group. She was a 'true blue' friend. Anytime someone was planning a trip to Vancouver, she would be the first to offer her home for them to stay, and made sure she had all the activities planned. She also loved get togethers, whether it was in Vancouver or Winnipeg, she always wanted old friends to get together. She especially loved to spend time with her three granddaughters Cali, Emmy and Elli, they were the light of her life. Shirley will sadly be missed by all her family and friends. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on June 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Greentree Village Community Centre, 4295 Garden Grove Dr., Burnaby, BC. A further celebration of life gathering will be held in or around mid-September, 2017 in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
