JOSEPH (JOZEF) KRUCZEK We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Joseph Kruczek, on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at his residence at Deer Lodge Centre, Winnipeg. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Alfreda in May of 1998. He is survived by his daughter Krystyna and his son Jerry (Diana). Grandpa will be missed and lovingly remembered by his granddaughters, who he loved dearly, Angela (Marco), Candace (Stuart and great-grandchildren, Jake and Eddie), and Karrie-Noelle. He also has a granddaughter Keira who resides in Holland. He missed her very much. Dad was born in Jablonov, Poland on April 22, 1922. After Poland was invaded, Dad was sent to a concentration camp where he escaped and made his way to England where he joined General Maczek's Army (Polish 1st Armoured Division) under British Command. He fought in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany and was part of the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. After being wounded and sent back to England to recover, he was sent to a Polish Resettlement facility in Camp Whitley, UK. Here he met Alfreda; they married and had their daughter Krystyna. In July of 1949, after deciding to come to Canada, they departed from the Port of Southampton, UK, aboard the ship "Aquitania" and made their way to Winnipeg, where they permanently settled. Dad loved his family and loved helping them in any way he could. "Joe", as he was known to his friends, was a hard-working man who enjoyed working with his hands. He could make a table, a lamp, a garage didn't matter, his hands were magical. He built an incredible roadster for his son and when other children rode their bikes his son sped down the sidewalk in a racing car! Dad inspired all of us with the beauty he created in the garden; the roses, the vegetables, the trees; they were beautiful. We'll miss you but your spirit will remain with us forever and we all carry your gift and love of creativity. Thank you to his very good friend Randy Popp, who did much to make dad happy. Thank you to all the health care workers at Deer Lodge Centre, Thorvaldson's and Amber Meadows your care and concern was very much appreciated. Dad has been cremated and a personal memorial will be held at a later date. Rest in peace "pop"
