FLORENCE LOUISE GEORGE (nee COOK) August 29, 1957 - May 30, 2017 Suddenly, on May 30, 2017, Mom left us to be reunited with her best friend and sister and the rest of our loved ones. Although she has begun her journey to eternal life we are left broken-hearted. Our mom, Florence Louise George (nee Cook), was born in Grand Rapids, Manitoba on August 29, 1957. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Neal and Charlotte Cook. Mom grew up in Grand Rapids, Manitoba, leaving for a short while to pursue her education. Mom was very family-oriented and was close to her parents and her siblings. Mom devoted her life to being a teacher, she worked in many places across northern Manitoba but in 1999 Mom made her final career move to Norway House. She loved all her students and called them her "kids". Mom worked hard to raise her three children - to them she was the mom and dad most of the time. The true loves and lights of Mom's life were her grandchildren. Mom had a huge heart and a fun loving nature. She loved all her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; she was known to all as Auntie Flo and to some as Auntie Floss. You could always depend on her if you needed a babysitter, she even had pick up and drop off service. Mom liked to tease and make up nicknames for all of us, she also liked to wait around corners and scare us. Mom and Auntie Jessie were so close that they loved each other's children as their own. Her nephews, Greg, Jonathon, and Dustin were very special to her as were her "other grandchildren", Delaney, Corey, Kalei, Darian, Teagan, Dezmond, Lilly, and Alyssa. Florence has left to mourn her children, Kerri-Lynne (Kevin), Angela, and Dylan; grandchildren, Deanna, Denae, Neal, Kesler, and Charlotte; husband Jack; siblings, Rubena, Anne, George, and Raymond (Sharon); step-children, Maxine Easter and Jason George (Melodie); numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Wake services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 in Norway House at the United Church and will continue on Tuesday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 7 at the Grand Rapids RC Hall. On Thursday, June 8, 2017 the final viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service will be at the St. Alexander's Roman Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. with Father Noel Boulanger officiating. Interment to follow at St. Alexander Catholic Church Cemetery. Arrangements Entrusted To NORWAY HOUSE FUNERAL HOME Norway House, Manitoba 1-204-359-4746

  • Was proud to work along side of Dear Florence. She had struggles but always had a smile! She was dedicated to her students and they loved her! I always enjoyed her laugh as she loved a good joke! It was a shock to loose her so suddenly and she will be sorely missed! - Posted by: Heather Paul (Colleague) on: Jun 07, 2017

  • My condolences to the family for your loss. I worked with Florence in Easterville when she was teaching at the old school. This is when I found out she was my cousin.
