Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD DOERR Quietly on June 7, 2017, Ron left this life to be with his beloved wife of 60 years Annette. Born in Indian Head Saskatchewan on April 1, 1932 he was raised by his mother and grandfather as Ronald Taylor. Upon entering the army in 1949 he became Ronald Taylor Doerr and in 1952 married his high school sweetheart and one true love Annette Donais. He is predeceased by Annette in December 2012, his mother Lillian and stepfather Norman Thompson. He is survived by his three sons Dean, Jeff (Rita) and Robert (Mary), his seven grandchildren Melanie (Jaret), Taylor, Tim (Rachel), Emily (Matt), Austin, Katherine and Angela as well as his seven great-grandchildren Prairie, Temple, Alexander, Willow, Olive, Sage and Ivy. He also leaves his stepbrother William Thompson in Fort Qu'Appelle, Sask. Ron was in the military band for 25 years playing saxophone. Music on the parade square and in small orchestras was his first professional life. After leaving the military he was involved in the Motor Vehicle Branch and the impaired driving program. Subsequently he worked with the City of Winnipeg in the Employee Assistance Program until he retired completely from the workforce. He filled his days in retirement with golf, computers and the new found joy of group emails and daily messages, photography and holidays down south with his dearest love Annette. He lived his life with the tenets of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Wisdom and Serenity of that program were a part of every decision and piece of advice he offered. He loved his life, his family and his friends. To all who cared for him in the trying last six months, thank you. From the 5th floor of the Victoria Hospital to the 5th floor of Actionmarguerite the kindness, care and patience of the staff was appreciated. Ron wished to be cremated along with a celebration of his life with a small private gathering of friends and family. His ashes will be interred at the family cottage beside those of Annette. I enjoyed knowing Ron over the past 15 years. He was always one of those people that was so cheerful and easy to get along with that he always seemed to make your day just a little it better. I also remember him for his love and skill in photography; something we both share. We both enjoyed comparing camera equipment and lighting skills to take certain cinematic shots. We will all miss you Ron! Our sincerest condolences to the family. May you finally be re-united with Annette. - Posted by: Petar Pejovic (Friend) on: Jul 26, 2017

Dean, Jeff, Rob and family. I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Ron's passing a few weeks ago. I have so many memories of laughter, golf and long evenings of hickle when our families would get together in Indian Head and later, in Calgary. He was so kind to my mom, calling regularly to chat since her sister Annette passing, even when those conversations became difficult in more recent years. I met Ron when he was at Stirling House. He was an avid player and he and my Mom (Bea) played bridge regularly at SH. He was always ready to push the envelope with regards to bridge bidding and enjoyed the game very much. He was always friendly and greeted everyone with a smile. Such a loss. My prayers are with you. - Posted by: Janice Attree-Smith (Friend) on: Jun 11, 2017

Although I haven't been in contact with Ron over the past year or more, I will sure miss him, we worked and played together for 30 or 40 years. Ron was a great support for all that knew him and always took time for a talk or whatever. It's hard for my Wife Yvonne and I to say a final good-bye, but we must with tears in our eyes, God Bless you Ron and rest in peace my Friend.. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.. Courage to change the things I can and Wisdom to know the difference. - Posted by: Mel Scwanky (Friends) on: Jun 11, 2017

Whenever I saw Ron he always greeted me with a wide smile, strong, warm hug and the greeting "hello Elizabeth"! Ron was always interested in what was new with me and my family and was a good listener. His laugh was unique and infectious! He loved being surrounded by his family and his pride in them was reflected in his eyes and smile. He loved his wife Anette and although married for a lifetime he would hold her hand as though they had just started dating. A wonderful role model for us all With regards to "keeping love alive"! You will be missed Ron but now you rest in the arms of your beloved Annette. - Posted by: Elizabeth Hoole (Sister of Rita Doerr) on: Jun 10, 2017

I first met Ron when he was a member of the RCHA military band at Ft Osborne Barracks in 1954. We often played together in bands from the 1950s until just a couple of years ago (I am also a tenor saxophonist and reformed alcoholic). We wintered in the same Texas RV Park for many winters in the 1990s. Although I hadn't been in touch with him recently, I will surely miss him. - Posted by: Glen Thorsteinson (Lifelong friend) on: Jun 10, 2017
