CAROL MARY PAULS (nee DICKENSON) Cancer took one of our finest in the early morning hours of Monday, June 12, 2017. Left to mourn our dear friend Carol are her brother Kevin (Moira); nieces, Sarah and Emily; nephews, Patrick and Andrew, along with many cousins and friends, too many to mention. She was predeceased by her mother Irene and her father George. Carol was a very special person. Her friend, Mary, often remarked "everyone needs a Carol". She was the epitome of kindness, thoughtfulness and caring and could always be counted on to lend a hand or an ear. A friend of such quality comes along once in a lifetime. It is impossible to describe how much Carol will be missed. On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, Carol's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, with Rev. Fr. Colin Peterson, officiating. As Carol wished, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3, Charity Registration No. 128595220RR0001. Loyal, caring, kind, fun, smart, hard-working; I cannot say enough about my dear Carol. We met at the Winnipeg Canoe Club in the '80's, playing golf, and immediately became friends. We were both from Cheshire, England so certainly spoke the same 'language' and found out that we had emigrated to Canada almost the same year. Throughout the decades that followed, we remained good friends. She had a heart of gold, big enough to go the extra mile for anyone and she came to my rescue on several occasions when I really needed a friend. Carol and I met when we were 13 and our friendship continued. Thankfully, I was able to speak with her on Saturday 10th June. She was always planning trips to visit family and friends around the world, visiting my home in England lots of times. Sadly, my planned visit to her on lst July is not to be. Carol was my only sister, and my wife Moira and our children Sarah, Andrew, Emily and Patrick have appreciated the many messages received from Canada in the past week . Carol was dearly loved by us all and despite the Geography and distance in miles we were a very close family in regular contact. We have a library of memories which we will Treasure and Carols loss will be felt for quite some time . As a family we would like to covey our heartfelt thanks sincerely to Carols Canadian family made up of lots of friends during her five decades there. Carol demonstrated to us the meaning of love without borders. She welcomed me and my family to Winnipeg and continuedd to give us her time whenever possible by helping us to know how to deal with the cold weather, showing us the best shopping centres for newcomers to Canada but above all she was nice to kids.
