DONNA MERRILY BRUYERE (nee MORRISSEAU) July 7, 1952 - June 11, 2017 Unbeknownst to family and friends and true to her nature, Donna kept her illness and suffering quietly to herself and it was a great shock to all who knew her to learn of her sudden passing. Donna was an affectionate and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Those of us she left behind will forever remember her as a sympathetic listener and kind soul, ready to help out when she could. Donna grew up in Winnipeg as the middle child in a large family, originally from Sagkeeng First Nation. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Lillian Morrisseau, her in-laws, Alexander and Evangeline Bruyere, her nieces, Merrily and Tracey, and nephew Michael, brother-in-law Leonard and sister-in-law Margaret and her infant brothers, Adrian, Peter and Paul. She is survived by her husband David, son Jarrid (Randy), grandchildren, Jarrid Jr., Ava, Alex and Anderson, and her siblings, Valerie (George), Larry, Theresa (Lloyd), Lesley (Liz), Deborah, Marvin, Kimberly and Claude. She had numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Donna had a variety of jobs and always enjoyed her time working. She had a passion for sewing and created many beautiful quilts, she was also a talented cook. Donna loved music and was a lifelong fan of Elton John. She spent many holiday gatherings playing board games with the family; she also enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren. During her parents' final years, Donna selflessly devoted her time to care for them. Pallbearers will be Jarrid Bruyere Jr., Nolan, Claude, Lesley, Marvin and Larry Morrisseau. In keeping with her wishes, there will be a wake service beginning Tuesday, June 13 until Thursday, June 15 in The Christ Anglican Church Hall Sagkeeng First Nation, followed by the funeral service on Friday, June 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Alexander Roman Catholic Roman Catholic Church with cremation to follow. Funeral arrangements entrusted to: Rock Fontaine Funeral Director Honour-Respect-Dignity (866) 499-2601 or in Winnipeg (204) 223-2576.
