  • Hilde and I first spoke over 23 years ago. It was a wrong number, but she was so pleasant that we spoke awhile before saying goodbye. Then a few months later she called again. For the next 15 or more years she would call, numerous times a day, sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly always asking for her Margitta. Honestly if we didn't hear from her we almost started worrying. Throughout the years we wondered why does she always call us? As the years went on we realized through conversation that our number was very close to Margitta's and with her failing eyesight she sometimes mixed up the numbers and got us. Our children have all grown up knowing "Hilde Hayda" and patiently talking with her and letting her know she needed to try dialing again. When I showed them the obituary and asked if they recognized the name they all remembered her and echoed the words they remembered from each phone call....."I don't know you, but I must love you!" We were all saddened to read of her passing but honestly have to tell you that seeing your Mom for the first time brought a big smile to our face and good memories. When she asked if we'd ever meet each other I would tell her that we'd meet in Heaven one day and we'd know each other! Rest in Peace dear Hilde. We are so happy that you dialed the wrong number all those years ago! It was wonderful talking with you through the years!!! - Posted by: Kim (a friend) on: Jun 15, 2017
