JOHN REUBEN BERING July 23, 1936 - June 11, 2017 On Sunday, June 11, 2017, after a short illness, John went to join the love of his life, Lois. John leaves his beloved children, Bradley (Dina), Darren and Leslie (Ben), his grandchildren Jordan, Mitchell, Lindi, Victoria, David, and Evan, and great-grandchildren Cole and Kaiden. John was born and raised in Winnipeg, attending Norberry School and Glenlawn Collegiate. It was while at Glenlawn that he met his future wife Lois Lambert, it was truly love at first sight. John was so very proud to be "Lois' Johnny". Following graduation John became a surveyor, some would say that his love for the outdoors made this a perfect career as he travelled and surveyed every corner of this province during his long career. During the early years of their marriage John and Lois began a family in St. Vital, as the family grew they became home owners in Fort Garry. When the family outgrew their small home they moved and settled back in St. Vital, where they flourished. John and Lois always enjoyed camping trips with family and friends, and so when John was 56 he retired and he and Lo were off on their many adventures in their fifth wheel. Heartbreak came in 2005 when the family lost their wife, mother and Gram. John held strong for his children and grandchildren, but life was never the same. The family finds comfort in the thought that they are together once again. In addition, John leaves his siblings, Randy, Norma and family, Wenzel and family, his sister-in-law, Margaret Cooper, his brother-in-law, Wat Williams and family. John will be missed by his many friends, but most especially Ian Bowman and Velma Reshaur, who were so very good to him in the last years. John will be laid to rest next to Lois on Friday, June 23, 2017,at 11:00 a.m., in a quiet family ceremony. The family would like to invite all who knew John to a celebration of his life on July 23, 2017, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at 141 Wellington Crescent, on what would have been John's 81st birthday, this event is open to all who knew him.

  • John U were a man that gave ... Raising my son without a father he was invited to join in experiences which would not have been possible without you and your family. Canoeing...We paddled in circles as I had to dump the water out due to a leak, we swam, fished, learnt to experience and appreciate nature to the fullest! You and I often sitting on the beach laughing as we enjoyed a cold one. You were unjudgemental, loving and accepting.... we had many wonderful times. I was so looking forward to making new memories this summer... just one more session on the front stoop. You made me feel like family...you will be missed. My deepest condolences go out to all. Thank you for giving me the best gift of all...my best friend Leslie of 30 years. RIP my dear friend. In my heart always. Love Leah - Posted by: Leah giroux (Friend) on: Jun 18, 2017
