EVA JARRETT April 29, 1924 - June 12, 2017 Passed away peacefully in her 93rd year at the Grace Hospital. Born Eva Mary Sliskovic in Port Arthur, Ontario to Croatian immigrants and later moving to Winnipeg with her three young children and second husband. In her early years, she loved to sew and her creative side came out in her oil paintings. She was a voracious reader and loved to garden, later turning to coaxing tomato seeds and potted petunias from her apartment balcony. She loved zipping off to bingo and occasionally even to the casino. As her age went up, her eyesight declined to a point where she needed a magnifying glass to do her daily crossword. Predeceased by her parents, Robert and Mary Sliskovic; first husband Morris Olchowsky, second husband Robert Jarrett, third husband Michael Pura; her sister Helen Beck; brothers, Joseph and John; step-daughter Roberta Jarrett; and step-granddaughter Charli Hanson. Survived by her brother Frank (Susan); her sons, Mick (Donna), James (Malhee); daughters, Jolene (Bob), Eileen (Anthony), Maryanne (Gary); stepdaughters, Judith (Dennis), Kate (Emil), Darlene (Terry), John (Leslie), many grandchildren and even great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends including her lifelong friend Aggie. We're all going to miss you mom, hope you're seeing more clearly now. As per Eva's wishes, there will be no service and cremation has taken place.

  • Eva welcomed me into the family and was a constant inspiration, with her cheerful acceptance of whatever happened in her life or to her kids. She kept track of all the family with pride. Frank and I will miss talking with her, but know she was ready to leave. Go in peace and love, big Sister. - Posted by: susan (sister-in-law) on: Jun 22, 2017

  • I will sure miss Eva. Whenever we talked she was always so bubbly and asking about my family. She loved to talk about her own family with great pride and love. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. I admired her so very much. All my love to the family during this difficult time. - Posted by: Lisa Glays (Friend) on: Jun 20, 2017
