KARL SCHMIDTKE Karl Schmidtke, July 17, 1925 to June 17, 2017, passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks Hospital. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, Martha, son Paul (Agatha), daughter Caroline (Dave); grandsons, Jonathan (Janice), David (Johanna), Benjamin (Kathleen), Jeffery (Courtney), Matthew and Timothy (Rebeccah), 11 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Christel (Dieter), Hubertus (Petra), and Klaus (Rosemarie) in Germany. Dad, Grandpa, Opa was born in Kamionka, Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1951 via Germany. He worked at CIL for 25 years and was active in his church and with his family. He enjoyed making and sharing homemade wine, as well as picking berries and mushrooms. His woodworking crafts he shared with all far and wide. He led a full life and always willing to help his family, friends and neighbours. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Viewing prior to service.
