KENNETH CHARLES MCEWAN September 11, 1931 - June 15, 2017 Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on June 15, 2017. Left to treasure his memory are his children, Malcom McEwan (Jenny), Mike McEwan (Liz), Margo Boak (Garry) and Marlene Waterston (James). He will be dearly remembered by his grandchildren, Alex McEwan, Ben McEwan (Kaylee), Addison Waterston, Lindsey Pearase (Donovan), Chris McEwan, Ryan Waterston, Stephanie McEwan, Ashley Waterston, Mark McEwan, Rebecca Boak and Austin Boak, and great-grandchildren, Chase and Fisher Pearase. He also leaves behind his friendly, one-eyed, orange tabby cat, iCat. Ken was predeceased by his eldest daughter Monica Sparks (1983), his sister Lillian Harrington (2008), and his beloved wife Claire Frances McEwan (2006). Ken served in the army for six years before being honourably discharged. After which, he worked as a caretaker at the St. James Legion where he worked for many years until his retirement. Ken loved to visit with family, tinker around the house, and plant his garden every spring. He would grow the most luscious vegetables, and plant beautiful flowers to honour his wife. A graveside ceremony was held on June 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Waverly Memorial Gardens, Winnipeg, Manitoba. In keeping with Ken's wishes, flowers are gratefully declined; donations can be made in his memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society, a charity that was very close to his heart.
