ENID LORRAINE ROBSON It is with the greatest sorrow and heavy hearts we announce the sudden, but peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Enid Lorraine Robson on June 21, 2017. She was predeceased by her dear husband Robert (April 20, 2016), and daughter-in-law Julie (September 28, 2015). Mom leaves to cherish her memory three sons and daughters-in-law, a daughter and son-in-law, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandsons. Mom was born in Winnipeg on December 12, 1931 to Elwood and Violet Newson. She worked and lived in Winnipeg her entire life. Lorraine and Robert were married on June 14, 1952. In 1954 they moved into their first and only house on Lennox Avenue. She worked at Great West Life until her first son was born in 1955, followed by two more sons in 1957 and 1964, and a daughter in 1971. The most important career to her was to be a mother, but somehow she still managed to find time at home to be a proof-reader of recipes for Gateway Publishing. She was the most loving and gentle person one could have ever known. She always listened without ever judging or criticizing. She was always willing to help everyone and anyone, anytime. She was a baker "extraordinaire", and everyone knew there wasn't a butter tart made anywhere that could compare with Mom's. She truly loved to bake; from her famous decorated birthday cakes, delicious pies, endless slices, tarts and cookies, to the fruit cakes we all couldn't wait for each year. Everyone will remember her fancy sandwiches, which she'd make for every kind of shower and any kind of occasion. Mom was a talented piano player for the church choir practices to Christmas carol sing-alongs, she sewed dance costumes, knit baby blankets and loved to garden. She always had a jigsaw puzzle on the go and loved her puzzle books. She loved to be with her family, and loved to play games and cards at our frequent family gatherings, even into the late hours of the night; and at Trivial Pursuit, she was a force to be reckoned with. She had a heart of gold and her family was everything to her. She has left us a legacy of what family is and what to live up to, and treasured memories to carry us through life. Mom, you are our inspiration. You will be forever in our hearts and thoughts, and we will miss you so very greatly. The family will be hosting a celebration of Mom's life, on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. at Gateway Christian Community Church, 851 Panet Road. • So sorry to hear this. I have so many fond memories of happy times our families spent together on Lennox Ave. I remember your mom as always smiling and so welcoming. She was definitely the go to person for her fancy sandwiches which were always a highlight of various wedding and baby showers in the neighbourhood. Sincere condolences to the whole family. - Posted by: Susan Fennell (Neighbor) on: Jun 28, 2017

  • Dear Andrew and all the family: Your mom was our "second" mom in the best neighborhood a kid could have grown up in! What great times we had on days that were too rainy or too hot, playing board games in your basement, specifically PARK 'n SHOP!! Your mom never missed a beat bringing us goodies and drinks to keep us happy though the years! Her genuine smile and little giggle will always be remembered. My condolences for your loss. - Posted by: susan gareau (funk) (next door neighbor) on: Jun 25, 2017

  • Oh yes, the fancy sandwiches, a talent that she passed to family and friends. Will never eat another one without thinking about her! - Posted by: Janis Reichart (Friend) on: Jun 24, 2017
