Born on December 8, 1934 to Michael and Pauline, Joe grew up in Winnipeg, MB with five brothers and one sister. Joe married Margaret ( Peggy) Douglas and they settled in BC, raising three children, Andrew, Joan and Joey. Joe is survived by son Andrew, his wife Hiroko and daughter Emma of Tokyo, Japan, daughter Joan, her husband Rob and their children, Thomas, Jackson and Georgia of Vancouver, BC, brother William and his wife Colleen of Winnipeg, MB, sister-in-law Mary of Richmond, BC, many nieces and nephews and special friends Georgina Fong of Vancouver, BC and Pat Watson of La Broquerie, MB. Joe was predeceased by his parents, son Joey in 1995, Peggy in 1996, as well as sister Kay and brothers Stanley, John, Michael and his twin brother George. Joe retired from the Government in 1996. At that time he relocated to Chilliwack, remaining active as a volunteer with the Chilliwack Senior Peer Counsellors. Joe enjoyed gardening and tinkering in his garage. He spent many a weekend having garage sales, or going to sales looking for "treasures". Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend lived his life to the fullest, on his own terms. We will all miss him.

I met Joe early 2000's when we both had joined the Chilliwack Senior Peer Counsellors - he was funny, intelligent, interesting and helpful. We maintained contact over the years - although I had only seen him once in the last six months. I am very saddened at his passing, and regret that I did not know he was in hospital - I definitely would have visited. RIP my old friend Joe. - Posted by: Nancy Allison (Friend - colleague in volunteer work) on: Jul 02, 2017
