OLIVER JOSEPH WILCOTT July 1, 1928 - June 24, 2017 Peacefully in his sleep, on June 24, our precious Oliver passed away. He will be dearly missed by his daughter Gail (Brian) Tonnellier, granddaughters Tessa (Kevin) and Hayley (Ryan), sister Bertha (Denis), and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine, daughter Patricia, 10 siblings, and his parents Isaie and Rosa. For many happy years Oliver called St. George, Manitoba home and many special family memories reside there. He loved the outdoors and felt at home surrounded by nature and wildlife. Oliver was very passionate about flying and in his late 30s he attained his lifelong dream of becoming a pilot. Using his innate know-how and many skills he built his own airplane. He loved flying to many remote destinations for fishing and hunting. Oliver shared a very special bond with his granddaughters, and they truly were the light of his life. His spirit will live on in them. He also had a great love for dogs, having many throughout the years, and he particularly adored his last dog Buck. Oliver will be remembered for his easy going manner, hardworking nature, ingenuity, generous heart and fantastic sense of humour. Before his passing Oliver shared his wish with his family not to feel sad when he goes, he knew he was going home. Dad/Grandpa, we know you are flying again and what a joyous reunion you are having in heaven. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Dr., Winnipeg.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Would like to pass on our late condolences for the family. We met your Dad through Phil Cyr, when we purchased a motorcycle from him, and we asked if he knew your Dad, as we have the 2nd of the airplanes he built. He said yes, that he lived a few doors down from Phil. Phil took us over and introduced us. We stayed and visited with the both of them for quite a while. Unfortunately we never stayed in touch but he had a wealth of knowledge when we visited him. So very sorry for your loss, Sincerely, Kim & Greg - Posted by: Kim & Greg Smith (acquaintance) on: Oct 04, 2017
