BATISTE TOOTOO The family of Batiste Tootoo sadly announces his passing on June 3, 2017, in Churchill, Manitoba, at the age of 77. Batiste is survived by his brothers Joe, John, George, Billy, Barney, Robert, Harry, Frank, Jack and William; his sisters, Mary and Dorothy; daughter Jennifer; sons, Hunter (Carol) and Victor (Lisa); mother of his children Sally Luttmer; grandchildren, Justin, Ember, Nicole, Eden, Taya, Cedric, Oceane, Anthony, Savannah, Christine, Donovan, Taryn; and great-grandchildren, Tyson, Luke, Avery, Joshua, Benjamin and Hazel. He was predeceased by parents, Pierre and Jenny; sister Christine, and brother Oscar. Honorary pallbearers were Joe and George. Pallbearers were his brothers, sons, and grandchildren listed above, as well as Sauley (Norman) Spence and Jimmy Neepin. A funeral service was held in Churchill on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Holy Canadian Martyrs and Queen of Martyrs with Bishop Anthony Wieslaw Krotki O.M.I. officiating, and interment at the Churchill Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone who reached out to express sympathy, the many people who visited and took Batiste hunting and fishing these past few months, and especially the staff at the Churchill Health Centre for the exceptional care they provided.
