JEANNETTE EMILY STOLAR
Born: Mar 16, 1938
Date of Passing: Jun 30, 2017
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEANNETTE (JAN) EMILY STOLAR (nee KORKOSH) March 16, 1938 - June 30, 2017 Peacefully, on June 28, 2017, Mom passed away with Andy, Colleen, Craig and Kathy by her side. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Tekla and Peter Korkosh, her husband, Monte Stolar, and her son-in-law Bruce Wilson. Left to cherish her memories are her three children, Andy Stolar, Colleen Wilson, and Craig Stolar (Kathy); her grandchildren, Lauren and Emery Wilson and Sarah Stuart; her brother Wally (Lynn) Korkosh; nephews David and Robert; as well as the other most important person in her life, her lifelong friend Barb Miskimmin. Mom was a most practical person who, two decades ago, wrote a letter containing what she wanted should something happen to her. It is still very relevant. In this letter, she wrote how devoted she was to her family and how much pleasure and contentment she derived from being surrounded by her family, particularly her grandchildren. She then wrote - "oh forgot very important Aunty Barb - for it seems like all my life, but I think we were 11 or 12 - dear friend, confidante, always there, for the laughs (and there were many) and the tears". She was deeply attached to family and long term friendships from childhood and her North End Roots. Mom wrote the other things that were important to her were her animals - especially of course her Lotus and Misha. Since she wrote this letter there has been Billy, Sasha And Pekoe. Her last listing of important things were blue skies at the lake and cottage. So many memories of Mom and us kids at the cottage. Mom loved playing and watching sports. She wrote that she especially loved volleyball and baseball. She was the batcatcher. Andy inherited her love of sports and participated in many. Craig and I did not and were in the cheering section! She was involved in the Boy Scouts movement with Andy and was his Akela. Her other loves were art, music, flowers and gardening. She also loved to paint and draw. Mom attended Faraday School, Isaac Newton School and Tec Voc School. In her teen years she worked at Kelekis's peeling potatoes and the Seventeen shop at Dayton's. Mom worked at the Bank of Montreal in the Foreign Exchange Department, then onto BACM, Eaton's Audit Department, and finally selling Jewellery at Mappins. Mom hoped she would be acknowledged for her lifetime and who she was, a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She hoped she touched the lives of people in some way. Mom was a remarkable woman and I know with all certainty that she touched the lives of so many of us. A celebration of Mom's life will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street, Winnipeg. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mom's name to The Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba or The Winnipeg Humane Society. Emily hopes Andy and uncle Carl understand how important it that she has let others know what the Stolar family has meant to her through the long years they have taken a interest in her, from her time at Earl Grey school to Jerry Carl stolar watching her through the years even when he couldn’t. Andy was his partner in crime and watching her children as they grew, thank you Andy I’m sure your mother was proud of you and police officer Monty your dad, both your parents have a special place where they are. - Posted by: Emily (Carl stolar and Andy Stolar have both followed me for years just want them to know that others watch) on: Mar 02, 2020

Craig--I am so sorry to hear your mom passed away. I enjoyed working with Jan at Mappins in KP in the early 90's. She was a very genuine thoughtful person who was well liked. Donna - Posted by: Donna Aikman (Co-worker) on: Jul 04, 2017
