JOE LEGANCHUK Suddenly on June 6, 2017, Joe passed away at the Minnedosa Health Centre. He was born in the RM of Strathclair on September 21, 1926 to Nykola and Pahlana (nee Hrynkiw) and was the youngest of seven children. In 1993, he retired from the mixed farm operation and 35 years of school bus driving. He would have been proud to know many of his former passengers acknowledged him as the "best bus driver ever!" Joe was an active softball player with the Oakburn Orioles, enjoyed curling, playing cards, notably King Pedro and "Sheemka". Travels included trips to Niagara Falls, Prince Edward Island, Las Vegas and Arizona. In 2006, a farm reunion recognized 100 years of the family farm and for the hard work of his parents settling in the area emigrating from Ukraine. Until last summer, he was able to cut grass on their well-manicured yard. He was very fortunate to have been living at home until his passing. Joe is survived by his wife Cassie (nee Zelinski) of 65 years (June 23, 1951), daughters, Geri (Michael) Seguin of Ear Falls, Ontario and Cheryl (Les) Ellchuk of Onanole, and son Darrell (friend Tara-Lee Townsend) of Winnipeg. Funeral services were officiated by Fr. Mykhaylo Khomitskyy of Rossburn and Fr. Volodymyr Bashutskyy of Winnipeg. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Joe's memory to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, in care of Box 241, Oakburn, MB R0J 1L0 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The family wishes to thank friends and neighbours for all their visits, phone calls, cards, floral, food, donations, memorial masses and continued support. Thanks to the EMS, palliative sitter Barb, "special" staff members at the Minnedosa Health Centre and Rae's Funeral Home. "Vichnaya Pam'yat"
