Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HAVIXBECK September 27, 1949 - June 30, 2017 John, beloved husband of Sharon, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, on June 30, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. John was born on September 27, 1949 in Winnipeg, MB to Joseph and Ilse (Maass) Havixbeck and grew up on the family farm in Rosser, MB. John attended the University of Manitoba where he met and later married the love of his life Sharon (Selci) in 1973 in Winnipeg. He worked for Blackwood Beverages, Harvestore, and TransWestern / Vitran Express, from where he retired after over 30 years. John was a quiet man, never one to be in the forefront but a willing participant for any fun filled activity. A dedicated and loving husband and father, family was most important to him. He enjoyed a simple life: camping and hiking with family and friends, as well as walks with his loyal canine companions. His beloved dog Maya will miss him greatly. John and Sharon have lived in the Charleswood community for over 40 years where they spent countless hours building their home and maintaining their yard. Woodworking and carpentry were his passion and he was always there to lend a helping hand. John is survived by his wife Sharon of 44 years; daughter Tanya (Nicholas) Verhulp; son Jeffrey (Aja Rieger) Havixbeck; his grandchildren, Cordyn, Azalia and Quince; as well as his eight brothers and sisters, cousins and many nieces and nephews. We invite you to come and celebrate John's life on July 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Howden Community Centre, 1078 Red River Drive, Winnipeg, MB. To the family my deepest sympathy at the loss of your brother. I have so many memories of the years our family shared as neighbours. That seems so long ago. Now, as we have all moved on in our paths in life, we can only count our blessings for what we had. Fondly Hansie - Posted by: Hansie (Holtmann) Demasson () on: Jul 18, 2017
