BRUCE EARLE RATHBONE January 13, 1947 - July 2, 2017 It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Earle Rathbone on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the age of 70. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, June and Ernest Rathbone. He leaves to cherish his memory his siblings, Carol Barbeau, Colin (Valerie), Brent (Elsie) and Elaine Gross. He will also be remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews, Erin, Allison (Dave) and their mother Janice; Laura (Tom), Daniel, Jerod (Mandy) and Keeli. Bruce treasured family gatherings where he was always amusing and entertaining. He was happy to share the joy of his many toy model airplanes, helicopters and rockets and earned the title of "fun uncle". The family enjoyed many concerts and events over the years, thanks to Bruce's endless generosity. Bruce, known as "Bones" by his friends and colleagues, was a dynamic individual who was never afraid to take risks in life. He was a wonderfully fun, unpredictable person and saw many of his grand ideas come to fruition over the years. Bruce had many great stories to tell which were, quite remarkably, true. He was passionate about the entertainment industry and was instrumental in bringing countless major events and acts to Winnipeg and throughout western Canada. A celebration of Bruce's life will take place at the Burton Cummings Theatre on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. A private family interment is planned. If so desired, donations may be made in Bruce's memory to Winnipeg Humane Society at or 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.

  • As friends of the Rathbones we always enjoyed Bruce's company and his great sense of humor. We were often treated to concert events thanks to Bruce's kindness and generosity. We were part of the early years when Bruce was instrumental in putting the Winnipeg music scene on equal footing with other major venues. Rest in peace, Bruce, you paved the way and your dedication and contribution will always be remembered by us and your many friends. - Posted by: Ross & Vi Watson (Friends) on: Jul 08, 2017
