EDITH VALLEE RODIN May 20, 1930 - Winnipeg, Manitoba June 23, 2017 - Calgary, Alberta Edith Rodin, a woman of boundless warmth and love, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 23, 2017, joining her loving husband Irven. She is sadly missed by her children Carol, Greg and Andria, Cary and Cori, her grandchildren Justin, Jordana and Baruch, Isaac, Lara, Kullen, Conan, Tova, and great-grandson Ari. Edith gave her time passionately and enthusiastically to a number of community organizations, including Big Brothers and Sisters, B'nai B'rith, Hadassah Wizo and the Progressive Conservative Party. Edith was an amateur actress, writing, directing and performing in many synagogue plays. She loved music and she and Irv commanded the dance floor. Edith is remembered for her zest for life, compassion, cheerful outlook and sense of humour. Above all else, Edith was a deeply devoted wife, mother and Baba. Despite suffering the ravages of Dementia/Alzheimer's in later life, Edith remained full of love, devotion, kindness and humour. Her loving spirit was and always remained infectious and touched all those around her. The family sincerely thanks Dr. Thomas Fung and all her caregivers at the Southwood Care Centre, where she was cared for with great compassion, dignity and kindness. Funeral services were held at the Schara Tzedeck Cemetery in Vancouver on June 27, 2017, officiated by Rabbi Adam Stein. Pallbearers were Justin Hovis, Isaac Rodin, Baruch Huberman, Mark Atnikov and Howard Jampolsky. If desired, donations in Edith's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, or to the charity of your choice.
