JUNE (JUNEBUG) JEANETTE BIRDSELL June 10, 1935 - July 8, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandma, great-grandma, wife, sister, and friend. June, or as commonly referred to by her late-husband Chub as "Queenie", passed away just after midnight Friday night at the Birdsell cabin on West Hawk Lake. June was at the cabin where she always wanted to be, with family, and doing what she loved doing (playing cards at night with family and friends), when her heart gave way. She passed into God's hands peacefully and without pain, and we are blessed that her transition was gentle, even though we all dearly miss her. Mom and Dad are reunited again. Cremation will take place (so that we can spread Mom's ashes amongst Dad's near the cottage), and a casual reception (as June would have wanted), will be held between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at Green Acres Funeral Home on Highway #1 East between Winnipeg and the Floodway. There will be no official service, just a come-and-go gathering to share memories of June's life and contributions. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Manitoba Prostate Centre at CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • To The Birdsell Family How hard it is to put into words what is in your heart. I will miss your dear Mom as I missed your Dad We had many wonderful years of friendship and many laughs and tears together, and yes we spent a lot of time playing cards until the wee hours of the morning. We attended their wedding, as they did ours. Saw most of all our children born, and now you have all grown up, and we were so proud of all of you. Spent lots of time at West Hawk lake at Pop Masons trailer, and we had so much fun. Once again I will miss June and our long talks, and debating whose turn it was to call. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Love You, Auntie Della - Posted by: Auntie Della (Friend) on: Jul 21, 2017

  • From the moment we became neighbours at West Hawk Lake 13 years ago, June was always there for us. Whether it was to open her door to our kids and show them the "bird book", offer them a treat (a full chocolate bar!), or just sit with me for a coffee, she always made the time to make us feel beyond welcome and part of her immensely caring family. June helped provide motherly guidance to me in times of a 5-day power outage. She advised to put a sleeping bag over my freezer and get a generator to live out here! From her handmade quilts to her pie-baking advice, June will always remain a huge part of our hearts. A powerful woman of love, family and guidance - June you are already incredibly missed. Love and hugs, Jeff, Lisa, Jack, Emma and Abby - Posted by: Lisa & Jeff McBride (West Hawk Lake neighbours) on: Jul 12, 2017
