PAM GERETA With much sadness we regret to announce the sudden passing of Pam Gereta on July 7, 2017. Mom was predeceased by her husband Roman, son Andree and son-in-law Craig. She leaves behind her children, Anna, Luba (Bruce), Joy (Kevin), Terry (Sue) and daughter-in-law Keri, along with 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Kidderminster, England on January 28, 1936. She met Roman after the war and they married in March, 1957. Mom and Dad immigrated to Canada to start their new life together and she became a Canadian citizen on December 2, 1976. Mom worked at various part-time jobs, working at Kmart and Jostens, but her main job was at home raising her five children on Powers Street in Winnipeg. She was a hockey mom and an active member of Ralph Brown Community Centre helping in the canteen. Also actively involved in her children's schooling, Mom attended almost every parent-teacher interview even for those of us who weren't in trouble! With all the children grown, Mom and Dad retired to Gimli, Manitoba where Mom was active in the church, singing in the choir and participating in fundraisers helping make perogies. Mom learned to cook all Dad's favourite Ukrainian dishes and was also an avid cookie maker. She always had cookies in the freezer for us children and then later on for all the grandchildren. Mom had a love of reading and doing puzzles (crossword and jigsaw). Mom also enjoyed playing games (crib, Scrabble, speed and 31) especially with the grandchildren when they would come to visit. In Gimli, Mom would spend time with us at the beach, walking in town, or going for ice cream with the grandchildren. Mom also loved animals and we usually had a dog, cat, bird or some combination in the house. Through the years she was faithfully and lovingly followed from room to room by Barker, Rex, Buddy and then Typsy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Mom's memory. A Celebration of Life is planned this Saturday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. at McClure United Church, 533 Greenwood Place.

To all of Pam's family-she meant so much to me--even Maggie(shepherd) would race to the back door on Saturday mornings sitting with her paw up waiting for the treat she knew she would get--Thank you Bruce, Joy and Anna for bringing her out to Gimli such a short time ago- so happy to get to see her and visit--not knowing that would be the last time--such good by hugs--Love Kathie - Posted by: Kathie Kushnir (friend and hairdresser) on: Jul 13, 2017
