STELLA HOROBEC WILSON It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Stella Horobec Wilson, on July 7, 2017 at the age of 81. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jennifer and Stefanie; son-in-law John; and grandchildren, Ainsley, Emily and Evan. Stella is predeceased by her loving husband Ansley Chalmers Wilson. Stella was born in Vita, Manitoba and raised in Caliento on the family farm. She graduated from Shevchenko School in Vita and then earned a Bookkeeping and Accounting Certificate in Winnipeg. As a young woman, Stella moved to Toronto where she met her soulmate, Ansley. In 1966, they were married in Winnipeg and made their home in Ontario. In 1980, they left Toronto for a life of peace and tranquility on the farm in Vita. In her later years, she moved to Winnipeg. Stella was a lifelong faithful member of the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Caliento, Manitoba. Mom took the greatest pride and joy in her role of Mother and Baba. Everyone felt welcome and loved in her home and no one ever left hungry. Mom had many talents and special gifts. She will be remembered for her kind heart, compassion for others, positive attitude and bravery. Thanks to her daughter Jennifer's love and care, she was able to remain in her own home despite her illness. Funeral liturgy for Stella will be held at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt Street, in Winnipeg on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Father Djura George Maljik presiding. Reception will follow the service. Private interment at St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery in Caliento will take place at a later date. Stella will always be remembered by us because of her beautiful smile and pleasant nature. The delicious meals that she, Vera Shuwera, Olga Bodnarchuk & the others whom names escape me prepared over the years at St. John the Baptist Church in Caliento were always looked forward to and devoured by us, because they were simply just that good! So true no one ever did leave hungry, thank you. May she RIP & Vichnaya Pamyat! - Posted by: Geraldine Penteliuk (Friend) on: Jul 14, 2017
